SMC Wins ACM Hometown Media Award for Original Drama/Comedy!

Somerville Media Center has won the 2021 Hometown Media Award for “Original Drama/Comedy” (Access Center Professional division) organized by the Alliance for Community Media for the comedy short “Totally Bogus: A True Story”. The winning video was produced as part of our very special 3 day teen filmmaking camp in August 2020 and filmed at the Somerville Community Growing Center and was directed by Bobby Graham and Chris Hopkin.

SMC member and Board Treasurer, Sam Baltrusis also won the ACM Hometown Media Award in the category of “Community Events: Parades and Festivals” (Independent Producer division) for his production of “2020 Fluff Festival: In Fluff We Trust: Sticking Together Thru Fluff” for Union Square Main Streets. Congratulations, Sam!

Judges review the submissions from their assigned category, score accordingly on a rubric and provide feedback to all entries which request commentary on their submissions.The programs entered for the 2021 Hometown Media Awards had their first telecast on a local cable access channel or their initial stream/web distribution on or between January 1 – December 31, 2020.
