Boston Free Radio Update (3.8.17)

boston-free-radio-update-2Hi BFR Crew!
Hope you all are doing well! Here are some updates about what’s been going on in and around the BFR studio…
Station News and Updates
We are redesigning the studio! More info below, but look forward to a more comfortable and sleeker set-up coming your way. This is a direct response to the feedback we got on our survey, which can still be taken here: Click here to complete the survey.
We are seeking 12 minute submissions of radio show segments to enter into the Alliance for Community Media’s annual awards in the “Audio Production” Category. If you think your show had a particularly compelling segment that deserves the award, please PLEASE send it my way. The deadline for submissions is March 23rd.
We are looking into the possibilities of syndicating some of our shows on other local stations, such as BNN’s LPFM station in Boston. I am meeting with Morgan, the head of WBCA 102.9, this Thursday. Stay tuned for more info as we begin to work out the details.
Upcoming Events
Our next Monday Mixdown will be Monday, March 20th. We need 2 DJs for this show! Come join us for a night of drinks and dancing to live BFR DJs in the classy casual back room of Brass Union. Play some shuffleboard, try your luck at the classic arcade games, and grab some pals for board games and beers in the lounge with an eclectic mix of our best Boston Free Radio playlists. All are welcome, 8pm-11pm, no cover!
The Adobe Audition Master Class being offered on Thursday, April 16th still has a few slots available! Sign up now!
Our next advisory council meeting will be held on Thursday, March 23rd. Please mark your calendars as we would love to have some strong representation at this meeting! If you cannot attend but would like to add an issue to the agenda, please let us know!
We also have some open slots available on the Duck Village Stage at Aeronaut–let me know if you are interested!
Equipment Updates
We have installed a new wireless keyboard with built in mouse in the BFR studio (for the PC). Like it? Hate it? Let us know!
New studio equipment to come! What to expect? A nice table, mics centered in the middle with boom arms, monitors out of the way, a shelf for aux inputs (record player, tape deck) better wiring, and soundproofing. Have thoughts or want to be involved in the renovation? Let us know!
New Shows and Shoutouts
Shoutout to Dan Burke who is now getting his live radio/TV show, Words on Film, syndicated at a number of other access stations, including Malden! Want to take your radio show to TV? Fill out an interest form today!
Also shout out to our new show on Mondays from 5-6, the New England Unsettler, who bills itself as “an audio journal of minor sabotage: fringe theory, deep ecology, radical politics, the unusual, and the underground.” Check out their latest show here.
Thanks for all you do,
Heather Mack
