Phase 2 Studio Redesign: Acoustic Paneling/Soundproofing Installation THIS FRIDAY

We have officially completed Phase 1 of our Studio Redesign (new desk and shelving, smarter cable management, and a new higher vantage point for our in-studio camera–which will now be able to link directly with FB live!) and are moving into Phase 2: Acoustic Paneling! We are looking for volunteers to help with this project, this Friday at noon (after Techno Trash). Nick from RadioScopia has already volunteered to help, thanks so much Nick! This project will involve positioning and hanging acoustic paneling in the main studio as well as in the side editing room. Please let me know if you’d like to help out!

Show Promos–IMPORTANT

THANK YOU to everyone who has been recording their show promos, and special thanks to Dan Burke for helping to record new Station IDs! However, we are STILL MISSING PROMOS FOR THE FOLLOWING SHOWS:

Listen Linden, Radiomancy Museum, Gold Mountain Radio Hour, Joe Vig’s Pop Explosion, The Donner Party, The Villen’s Den, Nitkatonic College Radio, Kismet, and DreamStar Radio, the Pop Culture Experiment, BostONDE Radio, Unpopular Music, Geek Love, and Wuts Da Wurd?

It is really important that I get these promos immediately, without them other shows cannot cross-promote! Please send me a 30 second or less promo ASAP –if you need help with this, let me know! The side editing room is set up directly for this purpose. Thanks!

New Shows

We have semi-quietly added a number of new and awesome shows to the BFR weekly lineup!
The Donner Party: Wednesdays from 8-9pm, Tune in to the Donner Party on Wednesdays at 8-9 pm!  Get spooky with Leila as we go through prime cuts of drone, ambient, techno, minimal wave, doom and noise from around Somerville and the greater universe. Each week will feature an eclectic mix of left field tracks guaranteed to make all your party guests disappear.
The Gold Mountain Radio Hour: Tuesdays from 7-8pm, Picture sitting on the back porch while the sun is going down, and think about the ideal soundtrack for a steamy summer night.  The Gold Mountain Radio Hour aims to provide the perfect music for wherever your evening might take you. Each week we showcase a variety of new music, forgotten classics, and familiar tunes, with an emphasis on chilling out.
Crushed Velvet Soul: Mondays from 5-6pm, Crushed Vinyl Soul is a hour long weekly broadcast featuring the best in new and old synthesizer funk. From disco to modern funk, this genre crossing program curated by DJ B-Train is guaranteed to have you on the dance floor.

BFR Mixer

It’s that time again! It’s been a while since we had a BFR get together, and especially with the influx of new DJs and shows coming in, I think it’s a good time to plan a group outing. At our last Advisory Council meeting, Chris Haskell of the Villen’s Den suggested we do a “takeover” of a local brewery, such as Aeronaut or Winter Hill, where we can have “open decks” for live broadcasting (and demo how to do live broadcasting if you’re new to it!) and also have some fun getting to know each other.
Stay tuned, official date coming soon!
Thanks for all you do!
