This month we put a Member Spotlight on Carla Perrotta in our latest “Inside the SMC studio,” a monthly blog post highlighting our members and their incredible talent! Carla is a 2018 award-winning member with SMC and currently producing BostOnde on Saturdays at 11am on BFR. She is an incredible asset to the greater SMC community and we love having Carla here as a community member and volunteer – thanks for being a part of SMC family! My name is Carla Perrotta and I host BostOnde on Saturdays at 11am on BFR. I’m an attorney and I live in Lexington with my family.
2. What was the strangest job you’ve had?
I was a telemarketer in high school and college.
3. Where is your favorite place to retreat for mental or physical health?
Walden Pond
4. Who were your early creative mentors or source for inspiration?
My father produced an Italian radio program called “Italia Ieri e Oggi” in Cincinnati (where I grew up). He’s been my inspiration for this show.

6. How has Somerville Media Center been a positive influence in your creative career?
SMC has provided me with the opportunity to connect with the local Italian American community in Somerville and Boston. I wouldn’t have that platform without SMC.
7. What is your favorite music album?
All of the albums by Lucio Battisti.
8. If you could have entrance music, what would it be?

Good question! I love Ennio Morricone, so any soundtrack from him would work.
9. What’s your favorite spot in Somerville to hangout or visit?
The Union Square farmer’s market and The Neighborhood Restaurant.
10. In 140 characters or less, how would you pitch your show or who you are?
We’re making waves with Boston’s all-Italian lanyguage program featuring Italian pop, rock, and folk music from yesterday and today.”
