Creative Writing for Kids with Regina Hansen

Monday, December 6 at 4pm on Zoom, registration required. Explore different writing themes, prompts and techniques, at our monthly writing event with Regina Hansen!

Regina Hansen is the author of the YA novel “The Coming Storm” (Atheneum/Simon and Schuster, published in June 2021). She teaches at Boston University and has written regular articles for the nationally circulated children’s magazine “Dig into History”, and her essays have also appeared in the Wall Street Journal Review, Science Fiction Film and Television, and the Conversation. Read a Holiday Romance! For the month of December, please read any book that is set during the time of a Winter Holiday. Ebooks and digital audiobooks can be found on Libby/OverDrive or Hoopla. Physical copies of the book are available to order in the catalog and can be picked up from any Minuteman Library location.

Nonfiction Book Group

Wednesday, December 8 at 7:30pm on Zoom, registration required.

The focus of this non-fiction reading group is on relatively short, approachable books: some of them dealing with relatively light subjects, others grappling with serious ideas.

For this month’s meeting, we will be reading “Why Fish Don’t Exist: A Story of Loss, Love, and the Hidden Order of Life” by Lulu Miller.

Learn to Knit!

Thursday, December 9 at 3pm at Central Library Teen Room

Teens ages 13-18 are invited to drop in and learn to knit! Once you’ve mastered the basics you’ll be able to complete a simple project such as a scarf or fingerless mittens. All materials will be provided.
