First Annual Speak Up! Somerville Telethon

Somerville Media Center is excited to invite you to the First Annual Speak Up! Somerville Telethon on Sunday June 10th from 10am-10pm. SMC celebrates local talent, diversity and community as part of our Speak Up Somerville! Telethon to raise funds for preserving community media!

This one-day event will feature community performers and leaders, our dedicated producers and volunteers as well as SMC members, staff and other supporters who will be on the air asking for donations to support the station. The 12-hour Telethon will be filled with a variety of activity and entertainment (more details to come). The Telethon also kicks-off SMC’s yearlong fundraising initiative “The Speak Up Somerville! SMC Fund”.

Our fundraiser will help support the following main areas:
  1. Youth Media Scholarships
  2. Increase the accessibility of our programming to people of all backgrounds
  3. Community Journalism Efforts
With a commitment to creativity, technology and social change, Somerville Media Center makes media production possible for everyone. We provide skills, equipment, inspiration and we amplify local voices on our various community media channels.

Viewers can watch the Speak Up! Somerville Telethon Live on Somerville Community Access Television (SCATV) Cable Channel 3 (RCN and Comcast), VilleTV Channel 613 (RCN), livestream on our website somervillemedia.org and listen at bostonfreeradio.com. Community members are also invited to come to our studio at 90 Union Square to watch events live and participate in the fun. We hope the telethon will reach a large audience of viewers who may not yet be aware of all that Somerville Media Center and community media has to offer. For more information, please contact Erica Jones, Membership & Outreach Director at 617-628-8826 or ejones@somervillemedia.org.
