The Somerville Public Library and Somerville Media Center are still seeking people to enroll in our collaborative training program for improving people’s digital & technology skills called, Getting Comfortable in the Digital Age.
Many visitors to the Somerville Public Library and Somerville Media Center go there seeking technology assistance whether it is for access to computers and Wi-Fi, introductory training in computer basics, or more advanced media requests; this new civic and community venture aims to meet that need. The two organizations are excited about the new collaboration and look forward to working with residents who seek to take advantage of this resource.
This program offers free computer, media and technology classes, and will be held at SMC at 90 Union Square, on the third Tuesday of each month from 11am to 1pm and this is a drop-in training series.
The next Digital Literacy training is Tuesday, December 19th from 12pm-2pm. During this time, the team will focus on “How to Use iMovie to Create Videos.” Do you want to create easy, snazzy looking videos? In this class, we will go over how to import pictures/videos into Apple’s free video editing software, iMovie. Participants will learn how to make simple videos and will learn how to create intro slides, text boxes, audio backgrounds and more.
